Disc and screen filters from the Technoplastic range

Σίτα, δίσκοι ή υδροκυκλώνας; Ένας πρακτικός οδηγός για το σωστό φίλτρο ανάλογα με την πηγή νερού, την παροχή και τον τύπο σταλάκτη.

Drip irrigation lives or dies by filtration. An emitter with a 0.8 mm passage will clog on particles you can barely see, and once a lateral is half-blocked the whole block irrigates unevenly. This guide walks through the three filter types we manufacture and when each one is the right call.

Start with the water source

The source determines the kind of contamination you are fighting:

  • Borehole or well — mostly sand and fine grit. Heavy but easy to separate.
  • Open reservoir, canal or river — organic matter, algae and silt. Light, sticky and hard to remove.
  • Municipal supply — usually clean, but scale and pipe debris still appear after maintenance.

Rule of thumb: filter to one tenth of the smallest emitter passage. For most drippers that means 120–150 mesh.

Screen filters

A stainless or polyester screen inside a PP body. They are the simplest option and the easiest to flush. Use them on borehole water or as a secondary safety filter at the head of each block.

Model Connection Max flow Mesh options
H-310 3/4" 5 m³/h 80 · 120 · 155
H-320 1" 8 m³/h 80 · 120 · 155
H-340 2" 25 m³/h 120 · 155

Disc filters

Stacked grooved discs trap particles across their whole depth, so they hold far more dirt than a screen of the same size before pressure loss climbs. On surface water with algae this is the default choice.

  1. Match the disc colour to the mesh you need (yellow 80, red 120, black 155).
  2. Size for peak flow, not average — a filter that is too small will need backflushing every hour.
  3. Fit a pressure gauge on both sides. Clean at 0.5 bar differential.

Hydrocyclones

No filter element at all: water spins, sand drops into a collector at the bottom. They handle enormous sand loads with no maintenance beyond emptying the collector, but do nothing for organic matter. Put one before a disc filter on sandy boreholes.

Putting it together

For a 2 ha vegetable block fed from a farm reservoir we would typically specify:

Reservoir → suction strainer → pump → 2" disc filter (120 mesh)
→ fertigation injector → 1" screen filter per block → laterals

Talk to us with your flow rate and a water sample description and we will size the head unit for you.
